General Pool Questions

Do I need to shock treat my swimming pool?

Pool Wizard Questions

Do I need to use chlorine with the Pool Wizard?
Yes, some chlorine is still necessary. Due to the effectiveness of the Pool Wizard in eliminating bacteria, viruses and algae, the need for chlorine is reduced by up to 75%. Low concentrations (0.5ppm) of chlorine are still required to eliminate ammonia and nitrogen compounds (suntan lotions, body oils, . . .).

Will high levels of chlorine affect the Pool Wizard?
No, chlorine cannot affect the Pool Wizard. Even at installation, when chlorine levels may be very high (>3.0ppm), there is no adverse affect on the Pool Wizard or its natural minerals.

Is the Pool Wizard affected by heat?
No, the active elements are not affected by warmer temperatures. Chlorine, however, dissipates into the atmosphere as a gas once it comes into contact with warmer temperatures.

Is the Pool Wizard affected by sunlight?
No, the active elements are not affected by sunlight or UV rays. Chlorine, however, dissipates into the atmosphere as a gas once it is exposed to sunlight or UV rays.

Will I still need other pool chemicals with the Pool Wizard?
Yes, pool chemicals are still required. A good test kit will indicate when and how much dosing your swimming pool requires. The pH needs to be adjusted as usual and chlorine is required in small amounts. Algaecides, algaestats, flocculants and coagulants are not required when you use the Pool Wizard. Because the Pool Wizard purifies the swimming pool water naturally without adding harsh chemicals, the cost and time spent maintaining the proper water balance will be radically reduced.

Are the active elements of the Pool Wizard safe?
Yes, absolutely. The elements present no health risks even at higher levels than those released by the Pool Wizard. The EPA allows up to 0.1 ppm of silver, 1.3 ppm of copper and 5.0ppm of zinc in drinking water. With the Pool Wizard installed, the water contains only a fraction of these limits. In other words, a glass of drinking water can contain more copper, silver and zinc than a glass of pool water. To ingest the amount of copper present in a single multivitamin tablet, you would need to drink at least 4 litres of pool water.

Will stains occur in the swimming pool?
No. The minerals in the Pool Wizard have been highly isolated and complexed according to its patented formula, designed to prevent staining.

What is the life span of the Pool Wizard?
The plastic unit will be effective for a period of three years before needing replacement. The water soluble minerals require replenishing every 8-9 months (with normal backwashing at 5% per month). Periodic maintenance of the plastic unit should be done to remove foreign objects (such as leaves and insects) that prevent good water flow through the plastic unit.

General Pool Questions

Do I need to shock treat my swimming pool?
You may need to shock treat your swimming pool. If the chemical balance of the pool water is correct and there are no filtration problems (clogged filter, sand needs replacing, filter needs backwashing), then cloudy pool water or dull water may be corrected with a flocculant. In the event that this fails to clear the pool water, you can try a shock treatment. Algae growth may also need a shock treatment. With the Pool Wizard these conditions are extremely uncommon, and may indicate that the active elements require replenishing.
